A hardware companion for Claude Code, and an AI-native embedded device that speaks MCP
MCPod is a hexagonal gadget the size of a keychain fob, USB-powered and built around an ESP32-S3. First and foremost it is a companion for Claude Code and Claude Cowork: with no screen, it speaks through four RGB LEDs on opposite faces of the hexagon and a small buzzer, and you answer back with a single button.
Paired over Bluetooth with the Claude desktop app, MCPod becomes the physical pulse of your sessions: it breathes calmly when nothing is happening, glows orange and spins the light around the four-LED ring while Claude is working (faster when more sessions run), and flashes red when a permission request is waiting. Right then you approve or deny it straight from the device, without looking away from your work. It also celebrates milestones with a rainbow spin, gives you a heart for a quick answer, and, when the moment calls for it, lets out a hearty fart.
But MCPod is also a concrete example of an AI-native embedded device: a small piece of hardware designed from the ground up to live alongside an AI assistant. Its name nods to the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard that lets AI models reach out to tools and data, and that is the very nature of the device: connecting to the AI world over MCP.
On board there is also a temperature, humidity and pressure sensor. Coming soon: an ambient mode that uses it, and customizable “packs” of colors and sounds (farts included) loaded over Bluetooth. The same board can run different firmware, so MCPod is a platform as much as a product.
